Know all about CAT 2018

Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) conduct Common Admission Test (CAT) on rotational basis every year.
CAT 2018 examination is being held by IIMs as a pre-requisite for admission to various management programmes in 20 IIMs and 100+ management colleges across India. Every year more than 2 lakh students take this national level MBA entrance test. CAT 2018 is expected to be announced in the last week of July 2018 and the entrance exam will be held on November 25.
 To apply for CAT, students must hold a Graduation degree, with at least 50 percent marks or equivalent CGPA [45 percent marks in case SC, ST and PWD categories students]. Final year graduation students can also apply for CAT 2018.

CAT registration or Application form will be available from the first week of August in the online mode only. The registration/ application fee is Rs. 1800 for General and NC-OBC category students and Rs. 900 for SC/ ST/ PWD/ DA category students.

CAT admit card will be available for download from last week of October in the online mode only. Students can download admit card by entering their login credentials which they provided at the time of filling the application form or registration. The details of the test centre will be provided in the admit card.

The CAT 2018 exam syllabus is divided into 3 sections : Quantitative Ability (QA), Data Interpretation & Logical Reasoning (DI & LR) and Verbal Ability & Reading Comprehension (VARC). The total duration of the exam is 3 hours and the number of questions asked in the examination is 100. Each question carry three marks and there is negative marking of one mark for each wrong answer.

CAT result will be announced in the 2nd week of January. The result of CAT 2018 will be announced in the form of score card and available in the online mode only. CAT 2018 result or score card is vailid for only one year. After the announcement of CAT result, IIMs and top management colleges release the list of shortlisted students for next round of selection process: Group Discussion (GD) and Personal Interview (PI).
